Ambushed Agent Speaks Out on Safety

A real estate professional in Milwaukee says he was going to a routine showing of a two-bedroom apartment on Tuesday—when things turned for the worse. As he entered the apartment, he was ambushed by two masked gunman, one hiding in the bathroom.
"This was an eye-opener—it was a shocker," Jim Olsen, 61, a real estate professional with Century 21 Affiliated, told the Milwaukee-Wisconsin Journal Sentinel. "It happened in the blink of an eye."
Olsen says the men ordered him to get on the floor and hit him in the back of the head with their guns. Olsen says the men then asked for money and took his wallet, iPhone, and wedding ring before fleeing. Milwaukee police are searching for the suspects.
The Sentinel published a letter Olsen wrote to other real estate professionals, sharing his cautionary tale. The paper also published a graphic photo showing a head wound Olsen says he sustained from the attack.
"I've been in this business for over 30 years, and never have I feared for my life like I did that day," Olsen wrote in the letter. "From now on, especially with vacant homes and showing properties to unknown clients, I will always walk around the house and make sure it is secure before walking in the front door."
